A tribute to Uncle Pai

My two daughters grew with our great Uncle Pai
Our travel was not completed without a tinkle in one hand
The previous day of our long drive would always  be filled with stalking old issues of tinkle  on the rear seat of the car
The children would not get irritated by travelling long distance if we give them one Amar Chitra katha
Uncle pai is the major contributor in introducing mythological characters to our children
They picked up the fun ,courage , excitement good language what not from your books
Shihari Shambu  and Suppandi have become our household names for ever
If I have a dull moment I shall pick up one of my daughter’s tinkle and start reading that I would regain my cheerfulness
My daughters used to contribute a lot to tinkle magazine “It happened to me “was their favourate
Some of them were published also and if the article was not up to the mark Uncle pai himself would write a letter( hand written with his signature) and attach some stickers also to encourage the children which I have preserved like any other medals and awards of my daughter’s
Dear Mr.Uncle Pai
I haven’t seen you
But Alas !your parting from  this world made me very sad as if we have lost one side of the wonder world of a child.
Good Bye to YOU , The Creator, But your creation will live long in the world of innocents .

PINK CANDIES AND GREEN BALOONS:

Hi spotted the sweety  beauty Barbie pink  sugar candies
The charm of the cloudy pink foggy soft candy in a lengthy stick is the centre of attraction of children
Hey let me brief about the situation
This is  one of the big  family’s wedding reception
Me and my family had gone in good attire
I badly wanted to have one
 But how!
People  of my age are not supposed to eat candies at wedding reception
After wishing the couple we went to the dinning hall
But heart was on the pinkies
My decency didn’t allow me to have one along with the kids
I was thinking widely and kept some space in my stomach hoping to have one candy at last
The dinner was superb and it was time to
bide
We went to the car park
I was curiosly watching the candy crowd
 I stepped into the car
Hey mummy here is your favourate
My sweet daughter pushed one BIG PINK CANDY in my hand and also one green balloon I was longing for
I comfortably sat inside the car ate the candy holding the balloon on the other hand  and asked my daughter “ how do you know?”
“There is always child in every adult ma”

Our Desi paper boys(bowlers)

Cricket is in our blood
We the Indians,  rich or poor young or old, are born cricketers
I was quite amazed by the paper thrown by the paper boy
He puts a rubber band around the paper so neatly and through it from outside of our gate to our sit -out
On the first day of this new paper boy I was quite annoyed by his action
‘ how can he do this ? that too to my house”
We are the loyal paper buyers for so many years
I watched him the second day furiously
He threw
Oh what is this  Iam not stupid
Iam paying for this service
The next day I called him and said’ see you should not do this ,you are supposed to hand over this or keep it on the bench out side as done by the previous boys
“ ok mam”
I  immediately felt so good “ see Iam   a conscious consumer I know my rights’
But the days to come the same thing happened
That week end I was sitting on the sit-out and sipping my hot tea
I saw him folding the paper nicely and from outside he threw the paper to upstires balcony without fail
Oh amazing what a distance and what a calculation
And I noticed the joy of the correct throw in his face
And he prepared another one for my house without noticing me, his hands were lifted for another throw
But on seeing me watching he stopped abruptly
I  spontaneously waved my hands  as if Iam giving him permission
Oh  he was overjoyed and with a good aim he threw the paper
And…………….it landed on my hand correctly
See , that is why I made the statement that we the Indians are born criketers
